hell is work

(Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker)

Normally I serve cunt, today I'm serving can't.

Why you might ask, because today the universe decided to squash my good ass mood from this morning into a flat ass this afternoon. First of all, my morning wasn't off to a totally stellar start because some dumbass crashed into a power line in the early hours of the night, therefore making the whole area experience a power outage. When I woke this morning, I quickly realised none of the lights were working, checked the news and was instantly disappointed, so I did my makeup with my phone flashlight sitting in the bathroom sink before heading out early to get breakfast at my cafe. Admittedly, getting myself a warm apple scone and an orange coffee lifted my spirits; sitting down for an hour and reading my book alongside this also added to the rising happy mood. I then skipped off to work, plump and ready for the day, only to be met with 10 new packages that need unboxing, fuck. Now I thought this would be the only hellish bit of work; I was dead fucking wrong.

I got yelled at. Not by my boss, no, but you would think since that's the only person who really should be doing any yelling at all. No, I got yelled at by my coworker, in front of seven- yes, I counted, seven god damn customers.

Satan, give me strength cause I wanted to slap her.

Of course I didn't, but now I'm regretting not. First off, I work Mondays and Tuesdays with this lady, that is something very important to note. Another important thing is the fact that my current boss doesn't deal with confrontation very well. Therefore, when he wants to tell someone that they are going to get fewer hours, he doesn't tell them, he just changes the schedule so they aren't working those days anymore. This lady, the one who yelled at me, closes the store on Mondays and Tuesdays. According to her, according to the schedule, it's me who is meant to close, she isn't on at all anymore. Now, I didn't know this, so on the first day that I met her, I could already feel some hostility, but I had no idea why until I figured it out. So she already didn't like me, and I can understand why. I thought if I talked to my manager about it, then maybe he could possibly find a different day for me so I wasn't taking this woman's hours and I could stop feeling this animosity from her whenever we work together. Big fat fucking mistake. He apparently talked to this lady about the whole situation and said we were to continue on as normal, with her closing and myself staying until 3:40-4 pm. Well great.

Today we had a lot of new products, as I said earlier, so I joined my other coworker in getting through them all. I was on the computer creating new products while she barcoded them and put them on the shelves. Some products took me a little longer than others since I had to search for the specific ones, and I was occasionally interrupted by a customer. When the lady who yelled at me came in, she was able to help with the shelving and taking care of customers. Around midday, we had all finished, and they had both gone off to dust and stock clothing, I was stuck thinking about what I could do. I remembered that a couple of people throughout the week had come in asking about a certain pair of earrings we didn't have in stock. So I went on the computer again to check if we had those lined up in our next order or if I had to add them in. Here comes the yelling. My elderly coworker came around the counter to me and asked what I was doing, so I explained. She then left me for a few moments before coming back.

"What are you even doing on there? I don't think you should be doing that. You should be helping us stock clothing or dusting instead of being on the computer all the time. Every time I see you, you're on it. You know we had a girl who used to just sit on the computer all day and just look at things, she didn't do anything. I'm just saying our boss wouldn't like it if you were just standing there on the computer all day. It also might make some of us feel a little animosity towards you if you aren't helping out with any of the other work." - the new asshole in my life.

Well, alright then. Fuck me I guess.

I know I just talked about speaking my mind and being more true to my feelings, but in that moment I had no idea what to say. Neither did the SEVEN FUCKING CUSTOMERS now watching us. I know I am meant to respect our elderly, but not when they treat me like shit. The rest of my workday was spent dusting the already gone dust and checking the already stocked clothes. I left early because there was no way I was going to be alone with her after our other coworker left. Rawdogged the whole drive home, no music, no nothing. That's how pissed I was.

Also my favourite fucking blog is on invite only view right now so I can't even see if they have posted. Someone shoot me.
